Vilseck is a town located in the Northeastern portion of the Bavaria region of Germany. The name of the town is derived from the German word “Eck” which means corner and from the Vils river with it’s tight bend where the watch tower is located, hence the name Vilseck.

Thanks, it's my favorite town in Germany.
ReplyDeletecool little village not much going on, no activities
ReplyDeleteCreepy place, narrow roads i just tolerated the crop cause I had no choice.Don't let anyone fool you about the castles to let you think they are charming, they are some run down garbage. I had no fun while I was there my two weeks did not go fast enough. Would not recommend.
ReplyDeleteI am a retired soldier, Lived in Amberg 41 months, Bad kissingen 36 months, Vilseck 36 months.Love this area of Germany. Lots of good memories. And some not so good.
ReplyDeleteMy lasting thoughts are very good for this area.
Lived at 4 Herrengasse, Vilseck. A cul de sac or herrengasse just to the left of the restaurant in the photos above. Made many German friends there but most dead or retired now. A lovely farming village. I may go back in a month, 40 years later, as a Military trainer, if so it will be like going home.
ReplyDeleteI too visited Vilseck with a friend of mine, who's son was stationed at Rose's Barracks. I found the town lovely. We stayed in the same hotel in the picture. Everyday we traveled by train to the different parts of Germany. The guy at the train station was like our tour guide, telling us where to go and what too see. I really enjoyed my 4 day stay in Vilseck and would love to return someday.
